Quarantine 2020 brought upon the resurgence of a trend that many thought had died years ago. Y’all know what I’m talking about here: TIE DYE! Maybe people had too much time on their hands at home, but homemade tie dye was the thing to be doing. I mean, did you even quarantine if you didn’t attempt to tie dye something? Personally speaking, yes, I most definitely quarantined and isolated myself—with the exception of grocery store runs—for close to four months. I did, however, jump on the tie dye bandwagon. I took the easy way out and opted to purchase tie dyed pieces and have someone else do the hard work. The thing was, once I started, I found it hard to stop! Also, sorry in advance for a blog post full of mirror selfies, but sometimes we have to do what we have to do, right?
Now before it becomes completely irrelevant and we ban this trend for another 40-something years, I wanted to share a few of my favorite colorful online purchases from my time in the Q. I know most fashionistas are ready to bid adieu to tie dye, but to be quite honest, I’m not hoping for this trend to completely “dye” off any time soon. I know, bad pun. I’m shaking my head at myself already.🤦🏻♀️
These first two pieces are from my girl Maria over at Custom-MG. In a post coming soon, I’ll get way more in-depth with Maria via a Q+A about how her company blew up, and how her distressed/hand-dyed one of a kind pieces and logo merch have become some of the most coveted items these days. Her dripping double C logo and signature slogan “Call You Never” hoodies are seen on some of the most prominent TikTokers to grace the app. The best way to keep up with her merch drops are by following her on Instagram, or just obsessively refresh her site like I do. It needs to be said that these tie dye hoodies were each individually hand dyed, and the first drop included around 100 pieces. YEAH. Try to wrap your head around THAT. Also, let’s note that I handed over to her a plain charcoal gray Champion sweatsuit and got this amazing creation back.
Next up we have this adorable co-ord set from VICI. I had seen the Harmony knit top and shorts back in May on some of my favorite influencers to follow (Krista Horton + Amber Lancaster) and fell in love with the color scheme. I pre-ordered and waited a month and a half for it to arrive. (Well worth the wait!) A cute set like this make me feel like I kind of have my shit together and look cute while lounging around the house. Personally, I’d recommend sizing up because the waistband—although elastic—is far from forgiving. At this very moment, select loungewear from them (including these pieces above—sold separately) are on sale!
These remaining pieces are all from Red Dress. While not all of them are currently still available, if you go to their site and search “tie dye” you’ll be presented with unlimited options. They literally have hundreds of styles and color combos—you’ll be sure to find something that speaks to you.
Lastly, in this day and age, masks aren’t going anywhere. My friends over at ChicTweak have designed some of the cutest masks, and of course, were right on top of the tie dye trend! Whether we like it or not, masks are becoming part of our OOTD’s, so we may as well look cute while protecting ourselves and others! They have some pretty solid colors, gorgeous floral patterns, and fun leopard print ones too. And it’s hard to tell, but believe it or not, I had a slight smile on under this mask! We all need to take a cue from Tyra Banks and SMIZE while wearing our masks.
I hope you enjoyed my little tie dye roundup! Until next time….
