Obviously, I didn’t intend to post my June 2021 mood board on the second-to-last day of the month. But life happens, amiright?? Truth is, I’ve been so into writing a few in-depth posts, that I nearly forgot. It was in the back of my mind, but then when I would sit down in front of my computer, I would inevitably think: “now what was I supposed to do?” I mean, if you don’t know me by now, you’ll soon understand that sometimes I’m late to the party (literally and figuratively speaking), that I work best under the pressure of a deadline, and that sometimes I just plain forget things. Mom brain seriously is a real thing. Alas, I finally remembered to get this post up. Even though it’ll be July in 48 hours, here’s my June aesthetic (insert sad “lol” here….)
June is the start of summer. It’s a fresh beginning (much like every other season, right?), and my favorite season of all. Yes, I become a hot, sweaty and irritable AF mess, but I love it. I’m not sure why, but for the month of June, I couldn’t stick to just one color for my mood board. Instead, I wanted to celebrate how all the colors work together, and opted for a pastel rainbow theme instead. It’s pretty to look at, and has an inspiring and uplifting message to go along with it. Also not to mention that June is the month where the LGBTQ+ community celebrates pride; having grown up with friends in that community, and my late teens and early 20’s being spent as part of the cast of the NYC Rocky Horror Picture Show floorshow cast, that community is so important to me. Although I identify as a straight woman, and never knew the struggles that they would face, they’ve always inspired me to embrace all my quirks, flaws, and to be unapologetically myself. Growing up, I would support a friend of mine and attend local group meetings for teens struggling with their sexual identity, or just looking to meet other members of the LGBTQ+ community. The struggles and obstacles that this community has faced and continue to overcome are inspiring. They’re a group of people from all different backgrounds working together towards a common goal. The rainbow flag that represents their pride wouldn’t be the same with one of the colors missing. Rainbows symbolize unity, togetherness, and also strength. So I find it perfectly fitting that for the month of June, my mood board was comprised of multiple colors.
As always, if you feel so inclined to take a look at the making of my mood board, you can view the reel here! Hopefully July’s mood board will be posted before the end of the month, along with some actual blog posts. Until next time!
