Back are the days of plaid co-ord sets, claw clips, Doc Martens, and distressed band tees. All I can say is…. it’s about time! The ’90s are back with a vengeance when it comes to all things style! This co-ord set from ASOS (by Daisy Street UK, sold separately—linked here and here) made my dreams of Clueless x Daria come true, and literally looks like the love child of Cher Horowitz and Daria Morgendorffer. Truth be told as different as both fictional characters are, I’m pretty sure that if you mashed up Daria’s dry sarcasm + cynicism with Cher’s love of fashion + sometimes vapid but mostly good intentions, you’d have…. well…. me. What I’m not sure of is whether this outfit makes me want to go 🎶rollin’ with the homies🎶 or watch an episode of Sick Sad World more!
Some people are not lucky enough to be as naturally adorable as you are!
Cher Horowitz, Clueless
I decided to style it with the on-trend Gucci GG logo tights, the biggest combat boots I own by Public Desire, and my favorite Rebecca Minkoff crossbody bag (the particular style shown is a few years old and sold out but my girl RM always has a sweet selection!) Being that the weather was still on the chilly side at the time of these pictures, I layered the set over a simple black turtleneck by Boohoo. (Also, because who doesn’t love a good turtleneck moment?) In all honesty and at the risk of sounding a little full of myself, I think the outcome is a freaking vibe and a half, and I loved it! I believe Cher + Daria would give their stamps of approval as well. Now…. if only there was somewhere I could wear it IRL….
My goal is not to wake up at forty with the bitter realization that I’ve wasted my life on a job I hated because I was forced to decide on a career in my teens.
Daria Morgendorffer, Daria (this one kinda hits home lol)
With the warmer weather, I may try to give it a different spin. Perhaps something more girly, less grunge? I would love to know what you’d like to see! Whatever the case, I don’t think I’m ditching the ’90s fashion any time soon!
