In all honesty, one of the main reasons I wanted to launch a blog in the first place was to have a creative outlet. I’ve always enjoyed all things creative from dressing up, experimenting with makeup, performing (flashback to my NYC Rocky Horror Picture Show floorshow days😬), writing, taking pictures, and even painting. We’re lucky enough to live in a time with social media where it’s easy to fulfill that need. I saw a post on Instagram last week that said: “Everyone on Instagram is a photographer. Or a chef. Or an artist. Or a fashion blogger. Or a dancer. Which is pretty awesome actually. People didn’t get this chance to showcase their talent earlier. Do your thing. Be creative. Let the whole world see it. Sorry if you were expecting a joke.” I absolutely love this motto. The greatest part of it all is that I now have a space to share all of my creative ventures with an audience who genuinely cares.
That said, one of the people I’ve always been inspired by was Andy Warhol. For as long as I could remember, I was fascinated by him. And of course, you can’t be familiar with Andy without having *at least* heard of Edie Sedgwick. Edie wasn’t only Andy’s and Bob Dylan’s (rumored) muse, but mine as well. When I had a pixie cut I even contemplated completely bleaching my hair to mimic Edie—it never happened and I’m not sure if that’s a blessing in disguise or a curse because that desire never was fulfilled! In any case, a few weeks ago, I was inspired by a post I saw from Hanna Beth Merjos on Instagram, and decided to do my own take on the Factory Girl. So I did some five-minute makeup, got out my tripod, and snapped a few quick Edie-inspired photos.
BTW, if you’re curious as to the title of this post, listen to Factory Girl by The Pretty Reckless. It was loosely inspired by Edie, and shares the name with an Edie biopic starring Sienna Miller and Guy Pearce as Edie and Andy, respectively.
I hope you enjoyed this quick little photoshoot! It was so much fun, and I can’t wait until the inspiration strikes for me to do another one and share with y’all! Until next time!
